Project Description
SEPTA Underground Concourse Rehabilitation
In the Spring of 2018, the SEPTA Concourse began an entire renovation and revamping of the public concourse from 13th Street to Market Street, and 15th Street to Market Street (just below City Hall). The full makeover of the “Downtown Link” now invites pedestrians to find a safe and modern way to reach their destination.
A.P. Construction acted as general contractor on this project and tasks included site work, moisture protection, as well as, new tile and concrete interlined throughout the 22,000 square feet of passageways.
The long-refurbished corridors now diverge from the freshly installed Oculus, the centerpiece of the concourse. Glass-block walls and attractive wall surfaces serve as a backdrop for the newly added innovative & interactive advertising, and signage displays. The project also incorporated epoxy flooring through all the corridors and lobby improvements at the Wanamaker Building entrance that comprises stainless steel finishes and features the installation of a relocated tile mosaic-mural.
This SEPTA Concourse project is a prime example of A.P. Construction’s General Building Construction abilities.
